 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to a dismissal or nonsuit of an application for a
 protective order.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 82, Family Code, is
 amended by adding Section 82.011 to read as follows:
 Sec. 82.011.  DISMISSAL OR NONSUIT OF APPLICATION. An
 application for a protective order may not be dismissed and a
 nonsuit may not be taken unless the dismissal or nonsuit is approved
 by the court. The approval by the court of a dismissal or nonsuit of
 an application is without prejudice.
 SECTION 2.  Section 82.011, Family Code, as added by this
 Act, applies to an application for a protective order that is
 pending in a trial court on the effective date of this Act or that is
 filed on or after the effective date of this Act.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
