9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 51.318, Government Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (f) Notwithstanding Subsection (b)(8), the district clerk | |
13 | 13 | may not charge a fee for a noncertified electronic copy of any | |
14 | 14 | electronic document on file or of record in the clerk's office, | |
15 | 15 | unless the copy is provided in a bulk distribution. In this | |
16 | 16 | subsection, "bulk distribution" means the distribution of all or a | |
17 | 17 | significant subset of the electronic records on file or of record in | |
18 | 18 | the clerk's office. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not | |
20 | 20 | affect a fee that became payable before the effective date of this | |
21 | 21 | Act. A fee that became payable before the effective date of this Act | |
22 | 22 | is governed by the law in effect when the fee became payable, and | |
23 | 23 | the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
