64 AN ACT
75 relating to individual indemnity health insurance.
86 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
97 SECTION 1. Section 1201.104(a), Insurance Code, is amended
108 to read as follows:
119 (a) For individual accident and health insurance policies,
1210 the commissioner shall adopt rules establishing minimum standards
1311 for benefits under each of the following categories of coverage:
1412 (1) basic hospital expense;
1513 (2) basic medical-surgical expense;
1614 (3) hospital [confinement] indemnity or other fixed
1715 indemnity;
1816 (4) major medical expense;
1917 (5) disability income protection;
2018 (6) accident only;
2119 (7) specified disease;
2220 (8) specified accident; and
2321 (9) limited benefit.
2422 SECTION 2. Not later than January 1, 2016, the commissioner
2523 of insurance shall adopt any rules necessary to implement Section
2624 1201.104, Insurance Code, as amended by this Act.
2725 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2826 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2927 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3028 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3129 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
