99 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
1010 proposing a constitutional amendment relating to appropriations
1111 for the preservation and perpetuation of certain items of
1212 historical value; allowing the legislature and state agencies to
1313 accept on behalf of the state gifts of items of historical value and
1414 contributions to purchase such items.
1515 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1616 SECTION 1. Section 39, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is
1717 amended to read as follows:
1818 Sec. 39. The Legislature may, from time to time, make
1919 appropriations for preserving and perpetuating memorials of the
2020 history of Texas, by means of monuments, statues, paintings, films,
2121 videotapes, audiotapes, computer files or other electronic storage
2222 media, and documents of historical value. The Legislature or an
2323 agency of the state may accept on behalf of the state gifts of items
2424 of historical value and contributions to purchase items of
2525 historical value.
2626 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2727 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 3, 2015.
2828 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2929 proposition: "The constitutional amendment allowing the
3030 legislature to make appropriations for preserving and perpetuating
3131 certain items of historical value and allowing the legislature and
3232 state agencies to accept on behalf of the state gifts of items of
3333 historical value and contributions to preserve and perpetuate such
3434 items."
