| 15 | 15 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 1. Section 39, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is |

| 17 | 17 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Sec. 39. The Legislature may, from time to time, make |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | appropriations for preserving and perpetuating memorials of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | history of Texas, by means of monuments, statues, paintings, films, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | videotapes, audiotapes, computer files or other electronic storage |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | media, and documents of historical value. The Legislature or an |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | agency of the state may accept on behalf of the state gifts of items |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | of historical value and contributions to purchase items of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | historical value. |

| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 3, 2015. |

| 28 | 28 | | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |

| 29 | 29 | | proposition: "The constitutional amendment allowing the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | legislature to make appropriations for preserving and perpetuating |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | certain items of historical value and allowing the legislature and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | state agencies to accept on behalf of the state gifts of items of |
|---|
