11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 101
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins Texans
33 across the state in observing February of 2015 as Turner Syndrome
44 Awareness Month; and
55 WHEREAS, Turner Syndrome is a non-inheritable chromosomal
66 disorder that prevents the female body from maturing naturally;
77 the condition occurs in approximately one of every 2,000 female
88 births; and
99 WHEREAS, The syndrome presents itself through a wide array
1010 of symptoms, and its properties are different in each woman
1111 affected; early diagnosis facilitates remediation of growth
1212 failure and other difficulties, and with care by medical
1313 specialists, women with the syndrome can live a healthy life; and
1414 WHEREAS, For many years, Turner Syndrome has received
1515 inadequate funding for research and treatment, and it is truly
1616 fitting that a month be set aside to draw attention to the need
1717 for greater funding and awareness of the condition; now,
1818 therefore, be it
1919 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2020 Legislature, hereby encourage Texans to support services for
2121 those affected by Turner Syndrome, as well as research on the
2222 disorder, and extend best wishes to all for a productive and
2323 rewarding Turner Syndrome Awareness Month; and, be it further
2424 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
2525 honor of Turner Syndrome Awareness Month.
