5	5	WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort
6	6	those saddened by the passing of John Dolan Poynor of Big Lake on
7	7	May 17, 2015, at the age of 59; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born on June 5, 1955, to D. D. and Darlyne Poynor,
9	9	"Buddy" Poynor grew up in Big Lake and graduated from Reagan
10	10	County High School in 1973; he attended diesel technician school
11	11	in Irving before returning to his hometown to work in the family
12	12	business, eventually taking over for his father and successfully
13	13	operating D. D. Poynor Construction for many years; at the time
14	14	of his death, he served as a county commissioner for Reagan
15	15	County and a board member for the Big Lake Economic and
16	16	Development Corporation; and
17	17	WHEREAS, Mr. Poynor enjoyed a rewarding marriage of more
18	18	than four decades with his wife, the former Letha Durden, and he
19	19	was a devoted father to their children, J. D., Amy, and Whitney;
20	20	he later knew the joy of welcoming five grandchildren and two
21	21	great-grandchildren into his cherished family; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Demonstrating an adventurous spirit, Mr. Poynor
23	23	was an avid motorcycle rider and pilot; moreover, he selflessly
24	24	and graciously volunteered his time by flying more than 100
25	25	missions for Angel Flight, a nonprofit organization that
26	26	provides free air transportation for people with medical travel
27	27	needs; a man of faith as well, he was a regular presence at First
28	28	Baptist Church of Big Lake; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Kind and generous in nature, Buddy Poynor
30	30	exhibited great compassion and concern for individuals in need
31	31	and brightened the lives of all those who had the privilege of
32	32	knowing him, and they will always carry him close in their
33	33	hearts; now, therefore, be it
34	34	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
35	35	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of John Dolan
36	36	Poynor and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
37	37	family: to his wife of 42 years, Letha Poynor; to his children,
38	38	J. D. Poynor and his wife, Carrie, Amy Evans and her husband,
39	39	Kelly, and Whitney Brandon and her husband, Jacob; to his
40	40	parents, D. D. and Darlyne Poynor; to his brother, Joe Poynor and
41	41	his wife, Debbie; to his mother-in-law, Shirley Hoffman and her
42	42	husband, Cotton; to his grandchildren, Bethany, Makenzie, and
43	43	Taylor Poynor, and Alex and Aundrea Evans; to his
44	44	great-grandchildren, Kaizley and Jaylynn; to his aunt, Ruth
45	45	Franklin; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be
46	46	it further
47	47	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
48	48	prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
49	49	this day, it do so in memory of John Dolan Poynor.
