| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join |

| 3 | 3 | | the citizens of the Coastal Bend and Texans across the state in |

| 4 | 4 | | celebrating February 18, 2015, as Texas A&M University--Corpus |

| 5 | 5 | | Christi Day at the Capitol; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi traces its |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | beginnings to 1947, when the University of Corpus Christi was |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | established; the institution became a part of The Texas A&M |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | University System in 1989; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Today, the university serves more than 10,000 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | students on its 240-acre campus; it offers bachelor's, master's, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and doctoral degrees from the Colleges of Business, Education, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Science and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Engineering; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The university continues to bring new programs |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and initiatives to the campus; its Harte Research Institute for |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Gulf of Mexico Studies was recently named a lead organization of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Opportunities and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Act's Research Centers of Excellence; it has also been designated |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | by the Federal Aviation Administration as a test site for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | unmanned aircraft systems; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi is one of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the foremost institutions of higher education in the state, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | it is truly fitting that a day be set aside to recognize its many |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | contributions to the growth and prosperity of the Lone Star |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend the administration, faculty, and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | staff of Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi on their |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | commitment to excellence in education and extend to all best |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | wishes for an enjoyable Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi Day |
