| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | welcome the delegation from Tarrant County and join in the |

| 4 | 4 | | celebration of Tarrant County Days at the State Capitol on |

| 5 | 5 | | February 25 and 26, 2015; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Tarrant County was created in 1849 as one of 26 |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | counties formed from the Peters Colony; it is named for General |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Edward H. Tarrant of the Republic of Texas Militia, and its |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | county seat is Fort Worth; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, What began as a frontier community has evolved |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | into a modern center for business, education, and world-class |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | culture; the 2010 census recorded 1,809,034 residents in Tarrant |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | County, making it the third most populous county in Texas and the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 16th most populous county in the nation; the county has 41 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | incorporated municipalities and is served by 20 outstanding |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | public school districts; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Tarrant County has many entertainment and tourist |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | attractions that draw visitors from around the world; families |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | enjoy Six Flags Over Texas, the Fort Worth Zoo, and Cowboys |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Stadium as well as exemplary museums, including the Kimbell Art |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Museum and the Amon G. Carter Museum, which showcase outstanding |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | collections of classic and American art; other area attractions |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | include historic downtown Grapevine, the shops at Grapevine |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Mills, Southlake Town Square, Sundance Square, and the Fort Worth |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Stockyards; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Tarrant County is also home to many excellent |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | institutions of higher education, which provide opportunities |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | for a variety of students and produce a highly educated |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | workforce; these institutions include The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Arlington, the University of North Texas Health Science Center at |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Fort Worth, Texas Christian University, Tarrant County College, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the College of Saint Thomas More, Arlington Baptist College, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Trinity Valley Baptist Seminary and College, Tarleton State |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | University--Fort Worth, and Texas Wesleyan University; and |

| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, The county's diverse and prosperous business |

| 36 | 36 | | community ranges from cattle ranching to small businesses to |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | multinational corporations and includes leaders in the defense, |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | aerospace, and transportation industries; Dallas/Fort Worth |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | International Airport, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort |

| 40 | 40 | | Worth, and the Alliance Airport all contribute to the regional |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | and state economy; and |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | WHEREAS, The visiting Tarrant County delegation of civic, |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | academic, and business leaders is headed by County Judge B. Glen |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | Whitley and County Commissioners Roy C. Brooks, Andy H. Nguyen, |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | Gary Fickes, and J. D. Johnson; and |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | WHEREAS, The people of Tarrant County have worked hard to |

| 47 | 47 | | build and sustain their vibrant community, and they can be justly |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | proud of their rich history, their many achievements, and their |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | enduring public spirit; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 51 | 51 | | Legislature, hereby recognize February 25 and 26, 2015, as |
|---|
| 52 | 52 | | Tarrant County Days at the State Capitol and extend to the |
|---|
| 53 | 53 | | visiting delegation sincere best wishes for a meaningful and |
|---|
| 54 | 54 | | enjoyable visit to Austin; and, be it further |
|---|
| 55 | 55 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
