55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Dr. Eugene Paul Schoch
77 Jr., who died January 20, 2015, at the age of 91; and
88 WHEREAS, Eugene Paul Schoch Jr. was born on September 24,
99 1923, in Austin; he met Eugenia Worley, the love of his life,
1010 while a young student at Austin High School, and they married in
1111 1944; and
1212 WHEREAS, His father was a chemical engineering professor
1313 at The University of Texas at Austin and was renowned for
1414 purchasing the instruments for the first Longhorn Band and
1515 marching with them on the field; Eugene and Eugenia carried on
1616 the tradition of the family's support by establishing an
1717 endowment fund for the band and hosting band festivities in their
1818 home; and
1919 WHEREAS, Eugene graduated from The University of Texas
2020 Medical Branch at Galveston and became a teaching medical fellow
2121 at Minneapolis General Hospital; he served with distinction as a
2222 captain and as a dermatologist in the United States Army; and
2323 WHEREAS, He ran a successful dermatology practice in
2424 Austin for fifty-two years, during which time, his medical
2525 research was often published; he was a respected leader in his
2626 field and was a member of numerous professional organizations; he
2727 was asked to lecture at institutions around the country; and
2828 WHEREAS, A loving husband, father, and grandfather,
2929 Dr. Schoch cherished time spent with his family; he was a man of
3030 many interests and talents who lived his life to the fullest, and
3131 he was a devout Christian and a longtime member of University
3232 United Methodist Church; and
3333 WHEREAS, He was beloved by many, and he will long be
3434 remembered with affection and appreciation by all who were
3535 privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
3636 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
3737 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3838 family of Dr. Eugene Paul Schoch Jr.; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4040 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4141 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4242 memory of Dr. Eugene Paul Schoch Jr.
