SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 122
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Reverend David Boyd, who is retiring as rector of
Saint David's Episcopal Church in Austin after 30 years of
outstanding service in the ministry; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Boyd was called to serve as the 13th
rector of Saint David's Episcopal Church in August of 2003; prior
to his move to Austin, he served in leadership positions at four
ministries in Wisconsin, including two inner-city missions in
Milwaukee, and he served as rector of the Church of Saint Michael
the Archangel in Lexington, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Over the last 11 years, Reverend Boyd has
ministered faithfully to the needs of the Saint David's Episcopal
Church congregation; under his outstanding leadership, the
church has provided enlightenment, hope, and support to the
Austin community; and
WHEREAS, In addition to guiding the ministries of the
church, he has served on numerous diocesan committees at the
national level, and he was elected to the General Convention of
the Episcopal Church four times; and
WHEREAS, A man of deep spiritual devotion, Reverend Boyd
has had a positive influence on the lives of many Christians, and
his presence at Saint David's Episcopal Church will be greatly
missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend the Reverend David Boyd for his
exemplary life of leadership and his many contributions to Saint
David's Episcopal Church and extend to him sincere best wishes
for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
