SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 140
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the San Antonio Express-News on the occasion of the
publication's 150th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1865, the San Antonio
Express-News has maintained a reputation as the leading
chronicler of events in the community; and
WHEREAS, San Antonio is a city rich in diversity, culture,
and history, and the 150th anniversary of the Express-News is an
opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the city's unique
heritage; and
WHEREAS, In honor of this special anniversary, the
newspaper printed a special historical section on January 25,
2015, and each day since then, for the next eight months, it is
publishing a full-page feature drawn from its extensive
archives; the culmination of these anniversary features will be a
celebratory section to be published on September 27, 2015; and
WHEREAS, For 150 years, the San Antonio Express-News has
consistently been a high-quality publication, and all the
members of its staff deserve to be commended for the newspaper's
success and its loyal following; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby congratulate the San Antonio Express-News on
the occasion of its 150th anniversary and extend to all
associated with the newspaper best wishes for continued success;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of the San Antonio Express-News.
