| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the members of the Hood County Long Term Recovery |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Committee for their exemplary work in the aftermath of a tornado |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | that struck the Rancho Brazos community on May 15, 2013; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Hood County Long Term Recovery Committee was |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | formed by a group of concerned citizens who had no prior |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | experience in disaster recovery; faced with the devastation of an |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | EF4 tornado that destroyed 100 homes and killed six people, these |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | citizens studied the issues surrounding the tragedy and worked in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | a variety of ways to help those displaced by the storm; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated volunteers selflessly performed a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | wide variety of tasks to help people recover; they procured |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | modular housing from Fort Hood, rebuilt homes, and wrote grants |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | for recovery funding; due to their tireless efforts, victims were |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | able to be reinstated in homes approximately six months earlier |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | than after most disasters; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Numerous local organizations and businesses played a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | vital role in the recovery efforts, including the United Way of Hood |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | County, Mission Granbury, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Texas Neighborhood Services, Central Texas Title, First National |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Bank, and churches of all denominations; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Thanks to the unstinting and generous work of the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Hood County Long Term Recovery Committee, the victims of the 2013 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | tornado have been able to begin putting their lives back together; it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | is truly fitting the members of the committee receive special |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | recognition for their outstanding work; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Hood County Long Term |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Recovery Committee on their dedication and hard work and extend to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | all best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
