| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the world famous Kilgore College Rangerettes on the |

| 4 | 4 | | memorable occasion of the organization's 75th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, On September 19, 1940, Gussie Nell Davis brought |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | show business to the gridiron when the Kilgore College Rangerettes |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | made their debut at the R. E. Saint John Memorial Stadium and laid |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the foundation for modern halftime entertainment; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Rangerettes introduced the dance drill |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | concept, which combined the precision movement of marching drill |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | with the grace and charm of dance; they soon became a national |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | treasure and an example of excellence for the many dance drill |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | teams that would emulate their spirited performances; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Since the Rangerettes' debut 75 years ago, dance |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | drill performances have evolved into a global business of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | resounding proportion; the art form is a source of more than |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 50,000 jobs and generates $4 billion in gross domestic product |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | each year; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Members of this pioneering drill team serve as |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | ambassadors of the state and the nation at events across the globe |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and serve as positive role models for young women everywhere; now, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the current and former members of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the Kilgore College Rangerettes for upholding a proud and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | longstanding tradition and extend to all congratulations on the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | team's 75th anniversary; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
