| 3 | 3 | | Council are gathering at the State Capitol to celebrate Texas |

| 4 | 4 | | Technology Day on February 12, 2015; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since the mid-1950s, North Texas has been home to |

| 6 | 6 | | major facilities of such high-technology companies as Texas |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Instruments, Collins Radio/Rockwell, and MCI, among many others; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | today, the region's thriving Telecom Corridor boasts a variety |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of telecommunications, information technology, biomedical, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | semiconductor, and nanotechnology companies that employ 230,000 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | people; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, In response to this rapid growth, the Metroplex |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Technology Business Council was founded in August 1994 by four |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | former chairs of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, Jim |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Carmichael of Rockwell International, Joe Snayd of Fujitsu, Max |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Kee of Nortel, and Frank J. Kozel of MCI; over the years, the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | council's membership has grown from 80 member companies to 300, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | making it one of the largest technology trade associations in the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Lone Star State and in the Southwest; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Under its motto "Technology Lives Here," the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Metroplex Technology Business Council acts as an innovation hub |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | for entrepreneurs, universities, and corporations by strengthening |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the North Texas technology community, fostering new technology |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | talent, and creating jobs and opportunity for countless Texans; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize the Metroplex Technology Business |

| 28 | 28 | | Council on the occasion of Texas Technology Day and extend to the |

| 29 | 29 | | visiting delegation sincere best wishes for an informative and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | enjoyable day in Austin; and, be it further |
