| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Cedar Hill High School Longhorns for their |

| 4 | 4 | | exemplary football season and for winning the Class 6A Division |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | II state championship title; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Longhorns earned their second consecutive |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | championship at the state finals by defeating Katy High School |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 23-20 on a 25-yard field goal with two seconds left on the clock; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | talent and perseverance throughout the school year; nineteen |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | team members signed scholarships totaling more than $2.3 million |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | on National Signing Day, and among them, two early graduates have |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | begun college careers; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | award-winning coach Joey McGuire, the Longhorns have developed |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | exceptional teamwork and discipline; as a tribute to his success |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | as an athletic leader, Coach McGuire was selected to coach in the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Under Armour All-America High School Football Game; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Cedar Hill High School and the City of Cedar Hill |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | are proud of the Longhorns for their hard work, their impressive |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Cedar Hill High School Longhorns |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | on their many accomplishments this season and on winning the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Class 6A Division II state championship title; and, be it further |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
