| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize February 24, 2015, as Texas Grammy Music Day at the |

| 4 | 4 | | Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Texas' unique musical heritage has enriched the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | state, the nation, and the world; the birthplace of distinctive |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | musical styles such as Texas Country and Tejano, Texas has a rich |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | history of producing culturally significant artists and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | musicians from every musical genre; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Recording Academy, the organization responsible |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | for the Grammy Awards, established a Texas chapter to serve the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Texas music community in 1998; artists and music professionals |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | from Texas were nominated for 35 awards and won 13 awards at the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 57th Annual Grammy Awards; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Music Office was created by the Texas |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Legislature to promote and support the state's music industry; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | live music festivals in Texas generate hundreds of millions of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | dollars annually in economic activity for the state, and nearly |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 150,000 jobs in the state are estimated to be tied to the music |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | industry; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the music industry and the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | important role it plays in the lives of Texans and proclaim |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | February 24, 2015, Texas Grammy Music Day at the Capitol; and, be |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | it further |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | honor of the music industry in Texas and as an expression of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | esteem from the Texas Senate. |
