5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of College Station in mourning the loss of Cheryl Lynn |
---|
7 | 7 | | McIntyre, who died November 30, 2014, at the age of 41; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl McIntyre was born on October 30, 1973, in |
---|
9 | 9 | | Easley, South Carolina; as a young girl, she found joy |
---|
10 | 10 | | participating in the music ministry of Easley First Baptist |
---|
11 | 11 | | Church; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, She graduated from Converse College in 1995 with a |
---|
13 | 13 | | bachelor's degree in politics; she joined the United States Air |
---|
14 | 14 | | Force and began her remarkable career as a space launch officer |
---|
15 | 15 | | at Cape Canaveral; she went on to serve in numerous positions for |
---|
16 | 16 | | the Pentagon, and while working for the Pentagon, she earned a |
---|
17 | 17 | | master's degree in Arabic studies at Georgetown University; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, She met her husband, Roy McIntyre, during her |
---|
19 | 19 | | first of two deployments to Iraq, and they married over a |
---|
20 | 20 | | satellite link in 2004 while Roy was serving in Baghdad; they |
---|
21 | 21 | | moved to College Station, and while Roy completed a master's |
---|
22 | 22 | | degree program at Texas A&M University, Cheryl was employed to |
---|
23 | 23 | | create and teach the first Arabic language program at the |
---|
24 | 24 | | institution; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Roy and Cheryl shared a life of adventure and |
---|
26 | 26 | | abiding love and were blessed with four children; in times of |
---|
27 | 27 | | heartache, they cherished the invaluable support of friends and |
---|
28 | 28 | | fellow church members; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl was a woman of deep spiritual faith and was |
---|
30 | 30 | | an inspiration to many; she leaves behind memories that will long |
---|
31 | 31 | | be treasured by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, |
---|
32 | 32 | | therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
35 | 35 | | family of Cheryl Lynn McIntyre; and, be it further |
---|
36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
37 | 37 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
38 | 38 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
