55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of College Station in mourning the loss of Cheryl Lynn
77 McIntyre, who died November 30, 2014, at the age of 41; and
88 WHEREAS, Cheryl McIntyre was born on October 30, 1973, in
99 Easley, South Carolina; as a young girl, she found joy
1010 participating in the music ministry of Easley First Baptist
1111 Church; and
1212 WHEREAS, She graduated from Converse College in 1995 with a
1313 bachelor's degree in politics; she joined the United States Air
1414 Force and began her remarkable career as a space launch officer
1515 at Cape Canaveral; she went on to serve in numerous positions for
1616 the Pentagon, and while working for the Pentagon, she earned a
1717 master's degree in Arabic studies at Georgetown University; and
1818 WHEREAS, She met her husband, Roy McIntyre, during her
1919 first of two deployments to Iraq, and they married over a
2020 satellite link in 2004 while Roy was serving in Baghdad; they
2121 moved to College Station, and while Roy completed a master's
2222 degree program at Texas A&M University, Cheryl was employed to
2323 create and teach the first Arabic language program at the
2424 institution; and
2525 WHEREAS, Roy and Cheryl shared a life of adventure and
2626 abiding love and were blessed with four children; in times of
2727 heartache, they cherished the invaluable support of friends and
2828 fellow church members; and
2929 WHEREAS, Cheryl was a woman of deep spiritual faith and was
3030 an inspiration to many; she leaves behind memories that will long
3131 be treasured by all who were privileged to share in her life; now,
3232 therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
3434 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3535 family of Cheryl Lynn McIntyre; and, be it further
3636 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3737 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3838 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3939 memory of Cheryl Lynn McIntyre.
