                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 171
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join
 Texans across the state in observing February 22 through 28, 2015,
 as Toastmasters International Week; and
 WHEREAS, The ability to speak in a clear and effective
 manner is a powerful and important skill that can help people
 overcome barriers to performance in virtually every endeavor and
 line of work; and
 WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1924, Toastmasters
 International has helped its members gain the confidence and
 skills they need to maintain successful businesses, fill roles in
 public and private organizations, and prepare themselves for
 advancement in the workplace; and
 WHEREAS, Toastmasters International has more than 14,000
 clubs in 126 countries around the world; there are more than 750
 clubs and over 13,300 members in Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Through the years, Toastmasters International has
 played a vital role in helping countless men and women develop
 essential communication and leadership skills; the organization
 is truly deserving of special recognition for its exemplary
 service; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby commend Toastmasters International on its
 exceptional success in teaching public speaking skills and
 helping individuals to gain confidence in themselves and extend
 to its members best wishes for a memorable Toastmasters
 International Week; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 this outstanding organization as an expression of high regard
 from the Texas Senate.
