1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 188
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church on the occasion of
4	4	its 100th anniversary; and
5	5	WHEREAS, Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church was organized on
6	6	September 18, 1915, under the leadership of the Reverend C. H. Marks;
7	7	through the years, the church has ministered to the temporal and
8	8	spiritual needs of countless area citizens; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Under the wise guidance and stewardship of its
10	10	pastors and the outstanding leadership of its current pastor,
11	11	Dr. Stanley T. Hillard, the church has continued to grow and to
12	12	play a vital role in the life of the Kashmere Gardens community; and
13	13	WHEREAS, Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church has become
14	14	an invaluable source of strength for church members in times of
15	15	hardship and bereavement and a place of joyous fellowship in
16	16	times of prosperity and celebration; and
17	17	WHEREAS, The church's 100th anniversary is an opportunity
18	18	for all to reflect on its invaluable contributions to the
19	19	congregation and the community; now, therefore, be it
20	20	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
21	21	Legislature, hereby extend to the members and clergy of Saint
22	22	Luke Missionary Baptist Church best wishes on the occasion of its
23	23	100th anniversary; and, be it further
24	24	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
25	25	honor of Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church.
