1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	join Texans across the state in celebrating January 26 through
4	4	30, 2015, as Texas Nurse Anesthetists Week; and
5	5	WHEREAS, Nurse anesthetists have been providing anesthesia
6	6	care to patients in the United States for 150 years and are
7	7	members of the oldest nurse specialty group in the country;
8	8	formal training for this important field began when a school of
9	9	nurse anesthesia was established at Saint Vincent Hospital in
10	10	Portland, Oregon, in 1909; and
11	11	WHEREAS, Today, nurse anesthetists practice in every state
12	12	and administer anesthetics to millions of patients each year;
13	13	these committed professionals work in a wide array of settings,
14	14	from large academic hospitals to outpatient surgery centers to
15	15	individual physicians' offices; and
16	16	WHEREAS, All certified registered nurse anesthetists in
17	17	Texas are licensed by the state after graduating from an
18	18	accredited educational program and passing a national
19	19	examination; and
20	20	WHEREAS, Nurse anesthetists are the sole anesthesia
21	21	providers in numerous rural Texas counties; our state is indebted
22	22	to these health care professionals for the vital medical services
23	23	they provide, and it is truly fitting that they receive special
24	24	recognition for the crucial role they play in our health care
25	25	system; now, therefore, be it
26	26	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
27	27	Legislature, hereby commend nurse anesthetists for their
28	28	commitment to quality care and extend to them best wishes for a
29	29	productive and memorable Texas Nurse Anesthetists Week; and, be
30	30	it further
31	31	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
32	32	honor of these dedicated health care specialists.
