                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 205
 In Memory
 of
 William Riley Boyd Jr.
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of William Riley Boyd Jr., who died June 2,
 2013, at the age of 96; and
 WHEREAS, Bill Boyd was born on February 24, 1917, in Houston,
 Mississippi; he graduated from Houston High School in 1934; and
 WHEREAS, In May of 1937, he was offered an apprenticeship
 in road and highway construction by the Corsicana-based
 contracting firm of E. W. Hable and Sons, and five years later,
 he married the love of his life, Tim Barton; in 1945, he organized
 W. R. Boyd, Incorporated, and his company soon became a prime
 contractor for the Texas Highway Department; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Boyd was a distinguished leader in his field, and
 in 1969, he was elected president of the Texas Highway-Heavy Branch
 of the Associated General Contractors; at the time, the branch was
 responsible for 95 percent of the highway construction in Texas; and
 WHEREAS, He served on numerous state committees, was a
 highly respected community leader, and was president of both the
 Texas Good Roads Transportation Association and the Texas
 Asphalt Paving Association; and
 WHEREAS, Bill Boyd was a loving husband, father, and
 grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will long be cherished
 by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of William Riley Boyd Jr.; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of William Riley Boyd Jr.
