| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, February 21 to 28, 2015, has been set aside as |

| 3 | 3 | | National FFA Week, and in conjunction with this observance, |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | members, advisors, and guests of the Texas FFA Association are |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | gathering in Austin on February 24, 2015, to celebrate Texas FFA |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Day at the State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, For nearly 100 years, FFA has helped youth develop |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | knowledge and skills related to agriculture, food, and natural |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | resources; the FFA program is integral to a three-part |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | educational model that also encompasses classroom instruction |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and supervised agricultural experiences, which may include such |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | activities as starting a business or working in production or for |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | an established company; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This noteworthy organization fosters good |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | citizenship and strong leadership in Texas schools, and over the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | course of its long history, it has produced many outstanding |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | community, state, and national leaders of industry, education, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and government, including many members who have served in this |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | chamber; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The largest FFA organization in the country, the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Texas association has more than 106,000 members and is guided by |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | elected officers who each represent one of the state's 10 FFA |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | areas; every year, the organization awards more than $2 million in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | scholarships to deserving members who have demonstrated academic |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | excellence, career readiness, and preparation for effective civic |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | engagement; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The Texas FFA Association contributes immeasurably |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | tothesuccessofagricultural,career,andtechnicaleducation, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and in so doing, it has greatly enhanced the prosperity of the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby recognize February 24, 2015, as Texas FFA Day |

| 33 | 33 | | at the State Capitol and extend to all those participating |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable event; and, |
