5 | 5 | | stakeholders are gathering in Austin on February 25, 2015, to |
---|
6 | 6 | | highlight the benefits of liquefied natural gas exports; and |
---|
7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Pioneering exploration and extraction methods have |
---|
8 | 8 | | opened vast natural gas resources to development, and demand on United |
---|
9 | 9 | | States natural gas markets can now grow with little impact on domestic |
---|
10 | 10 | | prices; plentiful supplies and unprecedented advances in technology |
---|
11 | 11 | | also present a historic opportunity for the United States to achieve |
---|
12 | 12 | | energy self-sufficiency while creating jobs and wealth; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Global demand for liquefied natural gas is expected |
---|
14 | 14 | | to climb significantly over the next two decades; the United States |
---|
15 | 15 | | Department of Energy estimates that, by 2035, natural gas production |
---|
16 | 16 | | levels will be 55 percent higher than was estimated only four years |
---|
17 | 17 | | ago; this trend can satisfy all domestic demand while also allowing |
---|
18 | 18 | | the nation to export natural gas; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, According to recent studies, the expansion of |
---|
20 | 20 | | liquefied natural gas markets will generate as much as $86 |
---|
21 | 21 | | billion in net benefits to the nation's economy and will help |
---|
22 | 22 | | reduce the United States trade deficit by as much as $60 billion |
---|
23 | 23 | | by 2038; moreover, increases in liquefied natural gas exports |
---|
24 | 24 | | could create more than 450,000 American jobs, including tens of |
---|
25 | 25 | | thousands of jobs in construction and operations; every two |
---|
26 | 26 | | billion cubic feet per day of exports supports 50,000 jobs in the |
---|
27 | 27 | | exploration and production sectors; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, In Texas, proposed construction and operation of |
---|
29 | 29 | | multiple liquefied natural gas export facilities along the Gulf |
---|
30 | 30 | | Coast will encourage new direct infrastructure investments worth |
---|
31 | 31 | | billions of dollars, will contribute royalties and local tax |
---|
32 | 32 | | revenues to communities across the state, and could create up to |
---|
33 | 33 | | 155,000 Texas jobs; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Liquefied natural gas exports will contribute to the |
---|
35 | 35 | | nation's global energy leadership and to other vital goals, among |
---|
36 | 36 | | them stability in natural gas pricing, increased business |
---|
37 | 37 | | investment, job growth, and higher revenues for communities in |
---|
38 | 38 | | natural-gas-producing areas; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
---|
40 | 40 | | Legislature, hereby recognize February 25, 2015, as Liquefied |
---|
41 | 41 | | Natural Gas Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those |
---|
42 | 42 | | participating in this event sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and |
---|
43 | 43 | | educational visit to Austin. |
