5	5	WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
6	6	generosity of Helen Kilroy of Santa Fe, Texas, who passed away on
7	7	December 22, 2014, at the age of 70; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born on November 5, 1944, Helen Kilroy worked as
9	9	an executive assistant and later enjoyed a career as a travel
10	10	agent; she and her husband, Jim Kilroy, shared 47 years together
11	11	and became the parents of two beloved sons, Mark and Keith; and
12	12	WHEREAS, In addition to her personal and professional
13	13	responsibilities, Mrs. Kilroy served as a volunteer with many
14	14	organizations in the Santa Fe and Hitchcock region; she played an
15	15	instrumental role in establishing the Santa Fe Independent
16	16	School District School Education Foundation and served on the
17	17	board of Santa Fe Parks and Recreation; a district leader for the
18	18	Bay Area Council Cub Scouts, she helped start the Cub Scout pack
19	19	at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; as a member of that church
20	20	for more than 40 years, Mrs. Kilroy served the congregation as a
21	21	Eucharistic minister and as the organizer of the church's
22	22	auction, and she also fostered seven young children through
23	23	Catholic charities; furthermore, she volunteered as an emergency
24	24	medical technician and paramedic for the Santa Fe Emergency
25	25	Medical Services ambulance and worked with Meals on Wheels; and
26	26	WHEREAS, Of all her community endeavors, closest to her
27	27	heart was her establishment of the Mark Kilroy Foundation with
28	28	her husband; named in honor of the couple's 21-year-old son who
29	29	was kidnapped and killed in Mexico by drug smugglers in 1989, the
30	30	foundation was created to support anti-drug efforts; Mrs. Kilroy
31	31	also helped organize the Substance Abuse Free Environment
32	32	program and the annual Mark Kilroy Foundation Fundraiser, which
33	33	helps secure grants for youth counselors; and
34	34	WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family and her community,
35	35	Helen Kilroy lived a caring and purposeful life, and she will
36	36	forever be remembered with admiration and affection by all who
37	37	held her close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
38	38	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
39	39	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Helen Kilroy and
40	40	extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to
41	41	her husband, Jim Kilroy; to her son, Keith Kilroy, and his wife;
42	42	to her two grandchildren; to her three sisters; and to her other
43	43	relatives and many friends; and, be it further
44	44	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
45	45	prepared for her family and that when the Senate adjourns this
46	46	day, it do so in memory of Helen Kilroy.
