11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 294
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 join the Harris County Historical Commission and the people of
44 Houston in celebrating the dedication of the W. P. Mulcahy House
55 at 1046 Harvard Street as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark; and
66 WHEREAS, W. P. Mulcahy and his wife, Mattie, purchased this
77 Houston Heights home in 1909, and the house remained in the
88 Mulcahy family for 90 years; Mr. Mulcahy enjoyed a long and
99 productive career in the banking industry and served as president
1010 of Damon State Bank; and
1111 WHEREAS, This historic structure is a fine example of the
1212 Dutch Colonial Revival style and features a unique T-shaped cross
1313 gambrel roof, a native cypress-clad frame, and an inset front
1414 porch featuring the bay's central 40-light window; and
1515 WHEREAS, The people of Houston are justifiably proud of
1616 their rich heritage, and it is truly fitting that this historic
1717 home receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it
1818 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
1919 Legislature, hereby extend best wishes for a memorable ceremony
2020 designating the W. P. Mulcahy House as a Recorded Texas Historic
2121 Landmark; and, be it further
2222 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
2323 honor of this special occasion.
