| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Ellis County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 106, which |

| 4 | 4 | | won the Best in State trophy at the 2014 Texas Law Enforcement |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Explorer Advisors Association competition; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Law Enforcement Explorer program provides |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | educational training on the purpose, mission, and objectives of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | law enforcement to young men and women ages 14 through 20; the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | program seeks to prepare them for careers in the field and to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | encourage them to become responsible citizens; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The Ellis County Explorer program sent three |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | teams to the state competition to compete in skill scenarios and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | individual challenges at The University of Texas at Arlington; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Team A consisted of Captain Colten Prater, Lieutenant Coby |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Paschell, Sergeant Shelby Snodgress, and Corporal Gage Adams; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Team B consisted of Sergeant Trevor Snodgress, Corporal Ross |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | McRee, Brandy Slusher, and Tristian McQueen; and Team C consisted |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of Isaiah Bias, Luis Martinez, Matthew Aguilar, and Nadir Garcia; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | assisting as actors were Courtney Cline and Hannah Little; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The competition tested the skills of 93 Explorer |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | teams from across the state; Ellis County team members received |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | seven first-place awards, two second-place awards, and one |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | third-place award; Team A attained an average score of 99.75 |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | percent for their teamwork and knowledge of Texas law, and Deputy |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Jeff Prater, the local advisor for the post, was awarded the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | William H. Spurgeon III Award for his exemplary leadership; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Ellis County Explorer teams are |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | dedicated to the betterment of their community, and they are indeed |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | deserving of recognition for their outstanding achievements; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |

| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of Ellis County Sheriff's |

| 33 | 33 | | Office Explorer Post 106 for winning the 2014 Texas Law Enforcement |

| 34 | 34 | | Explorer Advisors Association competition; and, be it further |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
