                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 30
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Texas A&M Forest Service, which is celebrating its
 centennial year in 2015; and
 WHEREAS, The Texas A&M Forest Service was created in 1915
 to manage the state's forest interests and all matters pertaining
 to forestry within the jurisdiction of the state; it was the
 first state forestry agency in the nation to be part of a
 land-grant university system; and
 WHEREAS, Through the years, the service has operated on the
 tenets of its call to serve, its duty to protect, and its
 commitment to support the principles of cooperation and
 partnership; and
 WHEREAS, The Texas A&M Forest Service is the state's lead
 agency for wildfire suppression, and it has revolutionized the
 way that states prevent and prepare for wildfires; the agency has
 performed vital research in the field of conservation and in the
 methods used to increase the size and productivity of the state's
 forests; and
 WHEREAS, The agency has for 100 years provided programs
 that rely on the best scientific knowledge and practices to
 protect the state's natural resources and support its forestry
 industry; it is truly deserving of recognition for its legacy of
 service; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby commend the men and women of the Texas A&M
 Forest Service on their hard work and dedication and extend to
 them best wishes for a memorable centennial celebration; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the service as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
