| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas A&M Forest Service, which is celebrating its |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | centennial year in 2015; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas A&M Forest Service was created in 1915 |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | to manage the state's forest interests and all matters pertaining |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | to forestry within the jurisdiction of the state; it was the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | first state forestry agency in the nation to be part of a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | land-grant university system; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, the service has operated on the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | tenets of its call to serve, its duty to protect, and its |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | commitment to support the principles of cooperation and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | partnership; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Texas A&M Forest Service is the state's lead |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | agency for wildfire suppression, and it has revolutionized the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | way that states prevent and prepare for wildfires; the agency has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | performed vital research in the field of conservation and in the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | methods used to increase the size and productivity of the state's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | forests; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The agency has for 100 years provided programs |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | that rely on the best scientific knowledge and practices to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | protect the state's natural resources and support its forestry |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | industry; it is truly deserving of recognition for its legacy of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend the men and women of the Texas A&M |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Forest Service on their hard work and dedication and extend to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | them best wishes for a memorable centennial celebration; and, be |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
