SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 300
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the BBQ on the Bricks Annual Barbecue Cook-off in
Kerens; and
WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers
Association as one of the organization's annual state cook-offs,
this exceptional event is supported by the City of Kerens and is
promoted by the Kerens Area Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, The Kerens Area Chamber of Commerce has
established this cook-off as an annual event and promotes Kerens
as the "Birthplace of Big Tex"; and
WHEREAS, Proceeds from this outstanding event are donated
each year to the Special Olympics as well as to fund local
beautification efforts; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and
this event is sure to provide cuisine to satisfy the most
discriminating of palates; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend the organizers and sponsors of the
Kerens BBQ on the Bricks Annual Barbecue Cook-off on their
charitable efforts and extend to all those associated with the
event best wishes for a memorable experience; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this exemplary event.
