| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the BBQ on the Bricks Annual Barbecue Cook-off in |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers |

| 6 | 6 | | Association as one of the organization's annual state cook-offs, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | this exceptional event is supported by the City of Kerens and is |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | promoted by the Kerens Area Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Kerens Area Chamber of Commerce has |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | established this cook-off as an annual event and promotes Kerens |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | as the "Birthplace of Big Tex"; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Proceeds from this outstanding event are donated |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | each year to the Special Olympics as well as to fund local |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | beautification efforts; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | this event is sure to provide cuisine to satisfy the most |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | discriminating of palates; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Legislature, hereby commend the organizers and sponsors of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Kerens BBQ on the Bricks Annual Barbecue Cook-off on their |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | charitable efforts and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | event best wishes for a memorable experience; and, be it further |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
