| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Proud residents of Wylie are gathering in Austin |

| 3 | 3 | | on March 3 and 4, 2015, to celebrate Wylie Days at the State |

| 4 | 4 | | Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Wylie was organized in the early 1870s and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | incorporated in 1887 with the arrival of the Gulf, Colorado, and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Santa Fe Railway; the city has grown immensely since its early |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | days on the Texas frontier, and it currently boasts a population |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of nearly 45,000, almost triple the number reported in the 2000 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | census; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Today, the City of Wylie, Wylie Independent School |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | District, Wylie Chamber of Commerce, and Wylie Economic Development |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Corporation are working in concert to build a strong community that |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | strives to honor the past, embrace the present, and plan for the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | future, while valuing unity, relationships, and trust; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Recently called one of the best small cities in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the country in which to raise a family, Wylie fosters a spirit of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | cooperation that leads to a thriving business environment and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | outstanding schools; moreover, while it is one of the fastest |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | growing communities in the state, its crime rate decreased by |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | five percent in 2014, and Wylie Fire Rescue is one of only 13 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | departments in the state to earn the highest Public Protection |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Classification rating; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Celebrating their rich and colorful history as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | they work together to build a bright future, the citizens of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Wylie may take justifiable pride in their hometown; now, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby recognize March 3 and 4, 2015, as Wylie Days at |

| 30 | 30 | | the State Capitol and extend sincere best wishes to the visiting |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | delegation for an informative and enjoyable stay in Austin. |
