| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Gilbert Zamora Sr. on the grand occasion of his 90th |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | birthday; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Zamora is well known for his wisdom and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | generosity of spirit, and he is respected and admired by all who |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | are privileged to know him; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Zamora was born March 13, 1925, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Morrill, Nebraska, the fourth of Fidela and H. O. Zamora's 13 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | children; he served the nation with distinction in the United |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | States Army and received the World War II Victory Medal; he later |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | joined the Texas National Guard and retired as a first lieutenant |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | after nearly a decade of service; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, He married Mary Elizondo on November 27, 1945, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | they were blessed with two children, Gilbert Zamora Jr. and Diane |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Pedersen, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | great-great-grandchild; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Zamora enjoyed a long and productive career |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | as the owner of Zamora Refrigeration; he has been active in his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and of American |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Legion Post 479, where he served as 2nd vice commander and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | historian; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, An inveterate tinkerer and inventor, he created |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | such useful gadgets as an aluminum can crusher, a pecan breaker, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and a ribbon organizer for his wife; he is beloved by his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | grandchildren who have great memories of their visits with him |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | while young, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | fullest is truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Gilbert Zamora Sr. on his many |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | achievements and extend to him best wishes for a memorable 90th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | birthday celebration; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
