2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Paul F. Davis of Pflugerville retired from the |

3 | 3 | | Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists in January 2014, |

4 | 4 | | drawing to a close nearly 45 years of service to the pharmacy |
---|
5 | 5 | | profession in the Lone Star State and beyond; and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Davis graduated from The University of Texas |
---|
7 | 7 | | College of Pharmacy in 1970; throughout his career, he worked |
---|
8 | 8 | | with pharmacy organizations in several capacities, starting in |
---|
9 | 9 | | 1972, when he began serving as director of public affairs of the |
---|
10 | 10 | | Texas Pharmacy Association; he was later tapped to lead the |
---|
11 | 11 | | Kentucky Pharmacists Association as its executive director from |
---|
12 | 12 | | 1978 until 1986, and after returning to the Texas Pharmacy |
---|
13 | 13 | | Association, he was promoted to that same position in 1990; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists |
---|
15 | 15 | | named Mr. Davis as its executive director in 2003; over the next |
---|
16 | 16 | | decade, the organization continued to grow under his direction and |
---|
17 | 17 | | expanded its scope to include executive management services for |
---|
18 | 18 | | related associations; through that initiative, he also became |
---|
19 | 19 | | executive director of the New Mexico Society of Health-System |
---|
20 | 20 | | Pharmacists, a post he held until his retirement; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, At every organization that he led, Mr. Davis |
---|
22 | 22 | | promoted the development of new services and programs and worked |
---|
23 | 23 | | to increase membership and revenue; this esteemed Texan has |
---|
24 | 24 | | received several honors for his outstanding work, including the |
---|
25 | 25 | | Texas Pharmacy Association Leadership Award, the Texas Society |
---|
26 | 26 | | of Health-System Pharmacists Distinguished Service Award, and |
---|
27 | 27 | | the William J. Sheffield Outstanding Alumnus Award from the |
---|
28 | 28 | | CollegeofPharmacyatTheUniversityofTexasatAustin; |
---|
29 | 29 | | additionally, he has been active with the Texas Society of |
---|
30 | 30 | | Association Executives, the American Pharmacists Association, |
---|
31 | 31 | | and Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, among other |
---|
32 | 32 | | industry-related organizations; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Davis enjoys the love |
---|
34 | 34 | | and support of his wife of more than 45 years, Beth, and their |
---|
35 | 35 | | three children and three grandchildren; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Paul Davis's dedication, professionalism, and |
---|
37 | 37 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow |
---|
38 | 38 | | Texans, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
---|
39 | 39 | | spent and on the high esteem that he earned from his peers; now, |
---|
40 | 40 | | therefore, be it |

41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
---|
42 | 42 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Paul F. Davis on his retirement |
---|
43 | 43 | | from the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists and extend to |
---|
44 | 44 | | him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
---|
45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

46 | 46 | | Mr. Davis as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
