SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 340 In Memory of Jeremy Davis Brown WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and friendship of Jeremy Davis Brown of Austin, who passed away on September 9, 2014, at the age of 43; and WHEREAS, The son of David and Debra Brown, Jeremy Brown was born on January 31, 1971, in Biloxi, Mississippi; he graduated from Bellaire High School in 1989 and later earned his bachelor's degree in government from The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was employed as a legal clerk for several prominent law firms while completing his doctor of jurisprudence degree at the South Texas College of Law in Houston; he also held a number of other jobs before becoming a lawyer, including positions as an assistant manager of a bungee jumping park and as a private investigator for ACTA Investigations in Houston, where he worked for more than a decade; and WHEREAS, After taking the attorney oath in 2006, he went on to enjoy a successful legal career, opening his own family law practice in Austin and admirably serving his clients until the time of his death; moreover, he was a member of the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section, the Travis County Bar Association, and the Dallas County Bar Association; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan delighted in the great outdoors, often spending his leisure time fishing and hunting in Texas and Mexico; a true animal lover throughout his life, he took immense pleasure in the company of his Labrador retrievers, and he often took it upon himself to protect animals from harm or neglect; and WHEREAS, While the life of Jeremy Brown ended far too soon, those fortunate enough to have known him will long remember the way he touched their lives with his warm personality and his ready smile, and he will forever hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jeremy Davis Brown and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his mother, Debra Eckel; to his father, Marshall Brown; to his grandmother, Zoe Clark; to his stepmother, the Honorable Jo Brown; to his stepfather, Floyd Eckel; to his brothers, Nicholas Eckel, Robert Brown, and William Brown; to his sisters, Elizabeth Brown, Jessica Blad, and Kathryn Eckel; to his aunt, Ronda Barnett; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jeremy Davis Brown.
