4	4	Jeremy Davis Brown
5	5	WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
6	6	friendship of Jeremy Davis Brown of Austin, who passed away on
7	7	September 9, 2014, at the age of 43; and
8	8	WHEREAS, The son of David and Debra Brown, Jeremy Brown was
9	9	born on January 31, 1971, in Biloxi, Mississippi; he graduated
10	10	from Bellaire High School in 1989 and later earned his bachelor's
11	11	degree in government from The University of Texas at Austin; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was employed as a legal clerk for
13	13	several prominent law firms while completing his doctor of
14	14	jurisprudence degree at the South Texas College of Law in
15	15	Houston; he also held a number of other jobs before becoming a
16	16	lawyer, including positions as an assistant manager of a bungee
17	17	jumping park and as a private investigator for ACTA
18	18	Investigations in Houston, where he worked for more than a
19	19	decade; and
20	20	WHEREAS, After taking the attorney oath in 2006, he went on
21	21	to enjoy a successful legal career, opening his own family law
22	22	practice in Austin and admirably serving his clients until the
23	23	time of his death; moreover, he was a member of the State Bar of
24	24	Texas Family Law Section, the Travis County Bar Association, and
25	25	the Dallas County Bar Association; and
26	26	WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan delighted in the great
27	27	outdoors, often spending his leisure time fishing and hunting in
28	28	Texas and Mexico; a true animal lover throughout his life, he
29	29	took immense pleasure in the company of his Labrador retrievers,
30	30	and he often took it upon himself to protect animals from harm or
31	31	neglect; and
32	32	WHEREAS, While the life of Jeremy Brown ended far too soon,
33	33	those fortunate enough to have known him will long remember the
34	34	way he touched their lives with his warm personality and his
35	35	ready smile, and he will forever hold a treasured place in their
36	36	hearts; now, therefore, be it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
38	38	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jeremy Davis
39	39	Brown and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to
40	40	his mother, Debra Eckel; to his father, Marshall Brown; to his
41	41	grandmother, Zoe Clark; to his stepmother, the Honorable Jo Brown;
42	42	to his stepfather, Floyd Eckel; to his brothers, Nicholas Eckel,
43	43	Robert Brown, and William Brown; to his sisters, Elizabeth Brown,
44	44	Jessica Blad, and Kathryn Eckel; to his aunt, Ronda Barnett; and to
45	45	his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
47	47	prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
48	48	this day, it do so in memory of Jeremy Davis Brown.
