5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |

6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Alane Sauder MacGuire, who died on March |

7 | 7 | | 1, 2015, at the age of 61; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Lanie MacGuire was born on April 10, 1953, in |
---|
9 | 9 | | Wichita Falls; she attended Hockaday School and graduated from |
---|
10 | 10 | | Wichita Falls High School; she earned a bachelor's degree at The |
---|
11 | 11 | | University of Texas at Austin, a master of business administration |
---|
12 | 12 | | degree at Columbia University, and a master of social work degree |
---|
13 | 13 | | at New York University; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, She found her true calling after studying at the |
---|
15 | 15 | | Jungian Institute in New York, and she ran a successful private |
---|
16 | 16 | | therapy practice for more than 20 years; she was beloved by her |
---|
17 | 17 | | patients, and she brought to her work an incredible depth of |
---|
18 | 18 | | knowledge about art, literature, and myth; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Lanie MacGuire was a widely respected leader in |
---|
20 | 20 | | her field; she was a member of the Jungian Psychoanalytic |
---|
21 | 21 | | Association and served as a board member and as president of the |
---|
22 | 22 | | C. G. Jung Institute of New York; she had been writing a |
---|
23 | 23 | | groundbreaking book on the concept of persona, which will be |
---|
24 | 24 | | published posthumously; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Though she was a dedicated New Yorker, her Texas |
---|
26 | 26 | | roots ran deep; her maternal great-grandfathers served as the |
---|
27 | 27 | | originalcountyjudgeandcountytreasurerinWiseCounty,and |
---|
28 | 28 | | she deeply treasured the time she spent visiting the |
---|
29 | 29 | | long-established working ranch that has been in her family for |
---|
30 | 30 | | generations; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Her proudest accomplishment was raising her two |
---|
32 | 32 | | sons, and she nurtured in them the same drive, kindness, and |
---|
33 | 33 | | generosity that characterized her own life; she had a devoted |
---|
34 | 34 | | circle of friends who cherished her wonderfully indomitable |
---|
35 | 35 | | spirit, her sense of humor, and her loyalty, and she will long be |
---|
36 | 36 | | remembered with deep affection by all who were privileged to |
---|
37 | 37 | | share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
---|
39 | 39 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
40 | 40 | | family of Alane Sauder MacGuire; and, be it further |

41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

42 | 42 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |

43 | 43 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
