1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 368
2	2	WHEREAS, Girl Scouts from across Texas are gathering at the
3	3	State Capitol on March 12, 2015, in celebration of Girl Scouts
4	4	Day; and
5	5	WHEREAS, For more than a century, Girl Scouts of the United
6	6	States of America has worked to promote the physical, social, and
7	7	emotional health of girls ages 5 to 17; the organization also
8	8	encourages involvement in science, technology, engineering, and
9	9	math while building leadership skills and increasing financial
10	10	literacy, and through its cookie program, it teaches such vital
11	11	business lessons as goal-setting, decision-making, money
12	12	management, people skills, business ethics, online marketing,
13	13	and e-commerce; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Today, the organization boasts a membership of
15	15	more than 167,000 Texans, of whom 534 earned the preeminent Girl
16	16	Scout Gold Award in 2015 after taking part in projects benefiting
17	17	their communities; and
18	18	WHEREAS, Inspiring young women to become leaders and
19	19	effect positive change, the Girl Scouts of the United States of
20	20	America is enriching countless lives and developing a host of
21	21	engaged and thoughtful citizens; now, therefore, be it
22	22	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
23	23	Legislature, hereby recognize March 12, 2015, as Girl Scouts Day
24	24	at the State Capitol and extend to all those in attendance
25	25	sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and informative visit.
