11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 368
22 WHEREAS, Girl Scouts from across Texas are gathering at the
33 State Capitol on March 12, 2015, in celebration of Girl Scouts
44 Day; and
55 WHEREAS, For more than a century, Girl Scouts of the United
66 States of America has worked to promote the physical, social, and
77 emotional health of girls ages 5 to 17; the organization also
88 encourages involvement in science, technology, engineering, and
99 math while building leadership skills and increasing financial
1010 literacy, and through its cookie program, it teaches such vital
1111 business lessons as goal-setting, decision-making, money
1212 management, people skills, business ethics, online marketing,
1313 and e-commerce; and
1414 WHEREAS, Today, the organization boasts a membership of
1515 more than 167,000 Texans, of whom 534 earned the preeminent Girl
1616 Scout Gold Award in 2015 after taking part in projects benefiting
1717 their communities; and
1818 WHEREAS, Inspiring young women to become leaders and
1919 effect positive change, the Girl Scouts of the United States of
2020 America is enriching countless lives and developing a host of
2121 engaged and thoughtful citizens; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2323 Legislature, hereby recognize March 12, 2015, as Girl Scouts Day
2424 at the State Capitol and extend to all those in attendance
2525 sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and informative visit.
