| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Metroport Meals On Wheels, Incorporated, on the |

| 4 | 4 | | occasion of its 35th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Metroport Meals On Wheels was founded in 1980 as a |

| 6 | 6 | | grassroots volunteer advocate for the elderly and those in need; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the organization provides senior citizens and others with |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | nutritional, home-delivered meals and uses community support as |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | an alternative to state and federal programs; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding nonprofit organization works |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | diligently to create personal relationships with those it |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | serves; over the course of its history, it has delivered more |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | than one million meals to senior citizens and the needy across |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Denton, Tarrant, and Wise Counties; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Metroport Meals On Wheels offers a variety of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | initiatives to supplement its home delivery of meals, including |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Senior Center Luncheons, the Staples for Seniors food program, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and the Holiday Stocking Tree; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, For 35 years, Metroport Meals On Wheels has had a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | positive impact on the lives of countless men and women in North |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Texas, and it is truly deserving of special recognition; now, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the staff and volunteers of Metroport |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Meals On Wheels on their commitment to serving the elderly and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | others in need and extend to them best wishes on the occasion of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the organization's 35th anniversary; and, be it further |
|---|
