11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 390
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 join the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Chapters of Delta Sigma
44 Theta Sorority, Incorporated, in recognizing Kathleen Turner,
55 who has achieved the membership milestone of 25 years and was
66 honored at a special Founders Day Luncheon on January 24, 2015; and
77 WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded in 1913 on
88 the campus of Howard University; the organization strives to
99 promote academic excellence, provide scholarships, improve
1010 communities, support the underserved, and encourage civic and
1111 political awareness and participation; and
1212 WHEREAS, Each year the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
1313 Chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority come together for a
1414 Founders Day Luncheon and pay tribute to longtime sorority
1515 members for their ongoing service and support; and
1616 WHEREAS, Kathleen Turner was honored at the luncheon as a
1717 25-year member; she has distinguished herself through her
1818 dedication and loyalty and has served as a mentor and role model
1919 to countless sisters, and she is truly deserving of recognition;
2020 now, therefore, be it
2121 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2222 Legislature, hereby commend Kathleen Turner and extend to her
2323 congratulations on being honored by the Dallas-Fort Worth
2424 Metroplex Chapters as a 25-year member of Delta Sigma Theta
2525 Sorority; and, be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2727 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
