| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Northeast Cultural Arts Council on the occasion of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | its 30th anniversary, which is being celebrated March 21, 2015; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Northeast Cultural Arts Council is a |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | nonprofit organization that was founded with the mission of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | fostering and supporting the growth and development of the arts |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and humanities among urban youth; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The council's goal is to foster cultural |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | awareness, provide early developmental experiences in the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | performing arts, nurture the talents of gifted young people, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | provide a safe, creative learning environment in which young |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | artists can reach their potential; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The annual Summer Arts Enrichment Camp is one of the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | council's most important projects; this intensive, five-week |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | exploration of the performing and visual arts offers programs in a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | wide array of disciplines, including drawing and painting, dance, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | music, theater arts, creative writing, and gymnastics; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, approximately 2,000 young |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | people have benefited from the Summer Arts Enrichment Camp, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and its participants have performed in such productions as the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Houston Grand Opera's Aida and Manon and in Theater Under the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Stars productions of The Nutcracker; it is truly fitting that |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the council receive special recognition for the positive |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | impact it has had on the lives of Houston's urban youth; now, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend the directors, advisors, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | instructors of the Northeast Cultural Arts Council on their |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | commitment to transforming lives through the arts and extend to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | them best wishes for a memorable 30th anniversary celebration; |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and, be it further |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the |
