SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 393
WHEREAS, The Texas Rural Water Association is holding its
46th annual convention in Austin from March 18 through March 20,
2015, and convention participants, including Charles Hilton,
president of the board of the National Rural Water Association,
are gathering at the State Capitol on March 18 to celebrate Rural
Water Day; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1969, the Texas Rural Water
Association is a statewide trade organization with an active
membership of more than 750 nonprofit water supply corporations,
small-town water departments, special utility districts, municipal
utility districts, investor-owned utilities, and individual
members that serve approximately 2.5 million people; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Rural Water Association is dedicated to
helping directors, managers, and operators provide efficient service
and clean, safe drinking water; it also encourages education and
information exchange, offers member support services, and handles
legislative and regulatory representation; moreover, the association
advocates reasonable, practical, and affordable rules regarding
rural and small water and wastewater systems; and
WHEREAS, Access to safe and affordable water and
wastewater systems is vital for the well-being and success of
Texans living in all parts of the Lone Star State, and Rural Water
Day provides a fitting opportunity to commend the Texas Rural
Water Association and its members for their commitment to this
critical issue; and
WHEREAS, Texas Rural Water Association members have
provided valuable public service to their communities for nearly
50 years and have done their best to Keep Texas Rural in the best
of ways; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby recognize March 18, 2015, as Rural Water Day
at the State Capitol and extend to members of the Texas Rural
Water Association sincere best wishes for a memorable and
meaningful annual convention.
