1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 393
2	2	WHEREAS, The Texas Rural Water Association is holding its
3	3	46th annual convention in Austin from March 18 through March 20,
4	4	2015, and convention participants, including Charles Hilton,
5	5	president of the board of the National Rural Water Association,
6	6	are gathering at the State Capitol on March 18 to celebrate Rural
7	7	Water Day; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Established in 1969, the Texas Rural Water
9	9	Association is a statewide trade organization with an active
10	10	membership of more than 750 nonprofit water supply corporations,
11	11	small-town water departments, special utility districts, municipal
12	12	utility districts, investor-owned utilities, and individual
13	13	members that serve approximately 2.5 million people; and
14	14	WHEREAS, The Texas Rural Water Association is dedicated to
15	15	helping directors, managers, and operators provide efficient service
16	16	and clean, safe drinking water; it also encourages education and
17	17	information exchange, offers member support services, and handles
18	18	legislative and regulatory representation; moreover, the association
19	19	advocates reasonable, practical, and affordable rules regarding
20	20	rural and small water and wastewater systems; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Access to safe and affordable water and
22	22	wastewater systems is vital for the well-being and success of
23	23	Texans living in all parts of the Lone Star State, and Rural Water
24	24	Day provides a fitting opportunity to commend the Texas Rural
25	25	Water Association and its members for their commitment to this
26	26	critical issue; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Texas Rural Water Association members have
28	28	provided valuable public service to their communities for nearly
29	29	50 years and have done their best to Keep Texas Rural in the best
30	30	of ways; now, therefore, be it
31	31	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
32	32	Legislature, hereby recognize March 18, 2015, as Rural Water Day
33	33	at the State Capitol and extend to members of the Texas Rural
34	34	Water Association sincere best wishes for a memorable and
35	35	meaningful annual convention.
