| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Kirk Edwards, who has been named the 2015 Entrepreneur |

| 4 | 4 | | of the Year by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is awarded each year to a |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | member of the chamber who has exhibited sustained success, made |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | innovations to products and services, been responsible for an |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | increase in sales, responded effectively to challenges, and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | played an active role in the community; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Kirk Edwards is president and chief executive |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | officer of Latigo Petroleum, LLC, which manages, operates, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | exploits diverse oil and gas assets across the United States and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Mexico; he also serves as lead manager for a number of energy and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | mineral interests, including those of the Mayo Foundation for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Medical Education and Research; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Mr. Edwards has served on numerous boards and committees that |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | have greatly contributed to the quality of life in the Permian |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Basin, including the Medical Center Hospital System Foundation |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and the Midland Odessa Transportation Initiative, and he is a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | member of the United Way Pillars Club; he served on the Odessa |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | City Council and was inducted into the Odessa Business Hall of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Fame, and he has worked tirelessly to bring Division II football |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | to The University of Texas of the Permian Basin; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Kirk Edwards has had a profound impact on the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | energy industry and on the community of Odessa, and it is truly |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | fitting that he receive special recognition for his many |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Kirk Edwards on his many contributions |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | to his profession and his community and extend to him |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | congratulations on being named the 2015 Entrepreneur of the Year; |
