11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 416
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Bishop T. K. Gorman Catholic School for its commitment
44 to providing excellent academic and spiritual education; and
55 WHEREAS, Bishop T. K. Gorman Catholic School has been
66 serving the people of Tyler and the surrounding area for more
77 than 55 years; this exemplary institution is operated under the
88 loving leadership of Bishop Emeritus Edmond Carmody, Father
99 Justin Braun, and Deacon Bill Necessary; and
1010 WHEREAS, The school provides a challenging academic
1111 environment and a rigorous college preparatory curriculum along
1212 with an emphasis on values, character, and self-discipline that
1313 enables each student to become a contributing member of society; and
1414 WHEREAS, A high percentage of the school's graduates go on
1515 to attend colleges and universities, and many of them receive
1616 generous scholarship offers; and
1717 WHEREAS, Bishop T. K. Gorman Catholic School has been named
1818 a Top 50 Catholic High School for 10 consecutive years, and it has
1919 received the prestigious Blue Ribbon Excellence in Education
2020 Award from the United States Department of Education; it is truly
2121 deserving of special recognition for the positive impact it has
2222 had on its students and its community; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2424 Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of
2525 Bishop T. K. Gorman Catholic School on their dedication to
2626 excellence in education and extend to them best wishes for
2727 continued success; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2929 the school as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
