| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Tony Carroll and Bruce Smith, who served as honorary |

| 4 | 4 | | cochairs of the Victory Fund Houston Champagne Brunch on March 1, |

| 5 | 5 | | 2015; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Tony Carroll and Bruce Smith are dedicated to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | serving the gay and lesbian community in their city through their |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | professional work and their personal endeavors; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Carroll began researching issues that are |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | unique to gay and lesbian couples in the 1980s; he has dedicated |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | his career to helping couples and individuals deal with their |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | issues through his work as a practicing therapist; his partner, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Mr. Smith, works with him to address the special needs of the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | community at therapeutic relationship workshops; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, These exemplary gentlemen also serve the greater |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | community through their involvement with numerous charities, the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | arts, and political organizations; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Carroll and Mr. Smith are committed to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | ensuring that gay and lesbian citizens have the support they need |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to navigate the challenges in their lives, and they can indeed |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | take pride in their personal and professional accomplishments; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend Tony Carroll and Bruce Smith on their |

| 25 | 25 | | dedication to their work on behalf of the gay and lesbian |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | community and on their many contributions to the City of Houston |

| 27 | 27 | | and extend to them best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
