11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 428
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize the members of the Texas Federation of Republican Women
44 on the occasion of their visit to the Capitol on April 16, 2015; and
55 WHEREAS, The Texas Federation of Republican Women is one of
66 the largest women's political organizations in the country;
77 organized in 1955, 17 years after the National Federation of
88 Republican Women was formed, it is widely recognized for its
99 effectiveness in the election of Republican Party candidates to
1010 city, county, state, and national offices; and
1111 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Federation of Republican
1212 Women spend countless hours researching issues and working on
1313 behalf of Republican Party candidates; their goals include
1414 education, training, and participation in government, and they
1515 have played a key role in encouraging Republican women to run for
1616 office; they also dedicate their efforts in support of community
1717 service programs and literacy projects; and
1818 WHEREAS, The organization's officers for the 2014-2015
1919 biennium are Jody Rushton, president; Debra Coffey, first vice
2020 president-special events; Theresa Kosmoski, vice
2121 president-bylaws; Janis Holt, vice president-finance; Cheri
2222 Creekmore, vice president-campaign activities; Rachel Woods,
2323 vice president-legislation; Kim Chambers, vice
2424 president-membership; Rhonda Lacy, vice president-programs;
2525 Gail Entrekin, treasurer; Carol Van De Walle, secretary; Carolyn
2626 Hodges, immediate past president; and Pam Meyercord,
2727 parliamentarian; and
2828 WHEREAS, Through the commitment, hard work, and dedication
2929 of federation members, women of all ages, ethnic groups, and
3030 backgrounds have an increased awareness of political issues and
3131 have recognized their importance in the political process; now,
3232 therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
3434 Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Federation
3535 of Republican Women for their exemplary accomplishments and
3636 proclaim April 16, 2015, Texas Federation of Republican Women
3737 Legislative Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3939 this organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
