| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, For the past century, the Texas A&M Engineering |

| 3 | 3 | | Experiment Station has served as the state's engineering and |

| 4 | 4 | | technology development agency; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The station was established in August 1914, and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | in 1948, it was incorporated into The Texas A&M University System; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | today, the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station has a close |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | relationship with Texas A&M University and partners with 15 other |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | universities and 11 two-year colleges across the state; in carrying |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | out its mission, it collaborates with communities, public school |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | districts, the private sector, and the federal government; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Fostering innovation in research, education, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | technology, the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station benefits |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | industry and business in myriad ways; its outreach to community |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | colleges helps to build the state's technology workforce and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | promotes the successful transfer of students from two-year to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | four-year institutions; in addition, the engineering experiment |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | station serves as a catalyst for collaborations that enhance |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | research capabilities statewide and that put Texas in a strong |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | position for securing federal grants; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Over the past 100 years, the Texas A&M Engineering |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Experiment Station has spurred economic development and provided |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | practical answers to critical state and national needs, and in so |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | doing, it has contributed significantly to the quality of life in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the Lone Star State and beyond; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commemorate the centennial of the Texas A&M |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Engineering Experiment Station and extend to all those associated |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | with this outstanding institution sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | continued success in their important work; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station as an expression of |
