1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 457
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize Joe G. Rivera, who recently retired as Cameron County
4	4	clerk after 38 years of outstanding service; and
5	5	WHEREAS, Joe Rivera was first elected to the position of
6	6	Cameron County clerk in 1974, and he served in that position
7	7	through 1982; four years later, he returned to the clerk's office
8	8	to continue his service to the residents of Cameron County; and
9	9	WHEREAS, His numerous responsibilities as clerk included
10	10	directing all primary functions of the office, implementing laws
11	11	passed by the state legislature, and facilitating the transition
12	12	to computerized record keeping; and
13	13	WHEREAS, In addition to his professional contributions to
14	14	the county, Mr. Rivera has promoted the success and vitality of
15	15	his community by sharing his time and resources with a number of
16	16	local civic organizations; and
17	17	WHEREAS, Joe Rivera has earned the respect and admiration
18	18	of his colleagues and fellow citizens, and he can reflect with
19	19	pride on his significant accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
20	20	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
21	21	Legislature, hereby commend Joe G. Rivera for his many years of
22	22	exceptional service as Cameron County clerk and extend to him
23	23	best wishes for the future; and, be it further
24	24	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
25	25	him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
