SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 465
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Ivas and Jewitt Montgomery, who are retiring after 41
years of exceptional service to the community as florists; and
WHEREAS, Ivas and Jewitt Montgomery are the owners of
Botanical Designs by Montgomery, which opened its doors to the
people of Baytown in August of 1973; their children, Sherri
White, Robyn Howell, and Vicki Knupple joined them in the
business; and
WHEREAS, Family members have held leadership positions in
a number of professional organizations, including the Allied
Florists of Houston, the Texas State Florists' Association, the
Baytown Chamber of Commerce, and the Society of American
Florists; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, Botanical Designs by
Montgomery has prepared floral arrangements for countless
weddings, funerals, and other events; the company was entrusted
with the floral decorations for the gubernatorial and
presidential inaugurations of George W. Bush; and
WHEREAS, In appreciation for the many contributions of the
Montgomery family to the floral industry, Allied Florists of
Houston is honoring the family at its 36th annual Houston Cup
Competition; it is truly fitting that these dedicated
entrepreneurs receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Ivas and Jewitt Montgomery and the
extended Montgomery family on their excellent work in the floral
industry as the owners of Botanical Designs by Montgomery and
extend to them best wishes for continued success in all their
endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the Montgomery family as an expression of esteem from the
Texas Senate.
