| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Ivas and Jewitt Montgomery, who are retiring after 41 |

| 4 | 4 | | years of exceptional service to the community as florists; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ivas and Jewitt Montgomery are the owners of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Botanical Designs by Montgomery, which opened its doors to the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | people of Baytown in August of 1973; their children, Sherri |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | White, Robyn Howell, and Vicki Knupple joined them in the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | business; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Family members have held leadership positions in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | a number of professional organizations, including the Allied |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Florists of Houston, the Texas State Florists' Association, the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Baytown Chamber of Commerce, and the Society of American |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Florists; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, Botanical Designs by |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Montgomery has prepared floral arrangements for countless |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | weddings, funerals, and other events; the company was entrusted |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | with the floral decorations for the gubernatorial and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | presidential inaugurations of George W. Bush; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In appreciation for the many contributions of the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Montgomery family to the floral industry, Allied Florists of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Houston is honoring the family at its 36th annual Houston Cup |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Competition; it is truly fitting that these dedicated |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | entrepreneurs receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Ivas and Jewitt Montgomery and the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | extended Montgomery family on their excellent work in the floral |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | industry as the owners of Botanical Designs by Montgomery and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | extend to them best wishes for continued success in all their |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | endeavors; and, be it further |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
